Coatings (Phosphate)

Phosphate coating is especially effective where it is desirable to reduce friction, galling, and scoring on ferrous surfaces. Phosphate coating reduces wear and is lubricative, which facilitates break-in of bearing surfaces. It has an unprecedented degree of thermal stability, inhibits corrosion, and creates a superior substrate for paint and other industrial finishes.

Phosphate coating's sponge-like surface holds oil to create a continuous film between moving metal parts, thereby making an outstanding break-in medium. High strength bolts that were tested repeatedly at 13,800 foot pounds of torque did not gall (more than 120,000 PSI of stress).

Typical applications for phosphate coating include:

  • Gears
  • Bearings
  • Fasteners
  • Actuators
  • Cynlinder sleeves
  • Sprockets
  • Marine components
