Piston CoatingsH.M. Elliott offers the following Piston Coatings:Ceramic Heat Shield (HS44): Ceramic coating used on Piston Domes to reflect heat away from piston and back into combustion chamber. This coating helps keep the top of the piston cooler which reduces the opportunity for distortion and skirt galling. This reflection will help insure a more efficient fuel burn and combustion. In applications such as diesel engines this can result in significant gains in Power and Fuel Economy. RP Skirt Coating: Anti-friction coating applied to Piston Skirts helps reduce galling and reduces friction. By utilizing both the Dome & Skirt Coatings on the Piston one can tighten the Piston wall clearance without fear of sticking the piston. This also keeps the piston straighter in the bore for better ring seal and will help the engine last longer and make more power.
